More Information

For breast-feeding women – aids development of children’s brain and retina

Breast milk is the source of DHA for babies after birth. To ensure babies’ vision is properly developed, it is recommended that breast-feeding ladies have an intake of 300mg DHA per day (Simopoulos, 1991 & 1999), as it softens retinal cells and shortens the time to transmit nerve signals to the brain.

Lipids account for 50-60% of the mass of human brains, and 10% of which is DHA. Older individuals diagnosed with chronic cranial or nervous problems have little DHA in their blood.

DHA plays an important role in the development of abilities like searching, judgment, concentration and smelling, thus DHA is “the source of intelligence”. Moreover, DHA also makes up 50% of retina’s lipids, this shows how important DHA is to mankind.

Benefits of DHA to human bodies

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid found in the human brain, retina, breast milk, testes and sperm, it is an essential nutrient in the body. Consumption of fish on a regular basis can reduce health issues related to the eyes, heart, joints, blood vessels and degeneration of senses in the elderly.
